I'm HIred!

Man has life been crazy for the mean one. I'm teaching 9th and 10th grade, as well as a creative writing course at the charter school I mentioned in an earlier post. Bernie would love this little school. They have a computer for each student in the class. All the computers are donated. There are always some bugs to iron out, but we're getting the students up and running.
I'm still smiling after two weeks, not to say there hasn't been problems, but they have been manageable. My class often works together so it can be a bit noisy. I began to wonder if I was too relaxed with them, so I took a days to make them all work quietly. I was quite astonished that it was absolutely no problem.
We've had some great discussions as we cover how certain faith systems have influenced western culture in my 10th grade class. My 9th graders are quite excited to write their own myths. I think that things are running way too smoothly and that soon the proverbial other shoe will drop.
My creative writing class has been working on a poetry section. I had them write a song and create a CD case to go with it, (is that the meanie or what?) they did such awesome projects. This week we are doing a poetry slam, at least I'm giving it a try. I don't know about the students, but I'm having a blast.
Well the mean one just wanted to stop by and share the news, I'd love to get suggestions for lessons, any help is always welcome. These kids keep me on my toes. Bye for now.
Oh in film news, we saw Crank It just looked intriguing. It was a terrible movie that we laughed at all the way through. Not for the youngsters. The filming was unique, would like to see a really good film using the technique. Meanie out.
